On Monday, April 13 at 7:30 PM, the Board of Selectmen will vote to bring the 2015-2016 budget to referendum. We believe bringing the budget to referendum diminishes the effectiveness and importance of the Town Meeting, our form of government since incorporation in 1832, and in deliberating the pros and cons of the budget together and voting together at that time. A pass / fail referendum does not offer the Board of Finance the opportunity to actively listen to the wishes of the taxpayers and balance them with our town’s needs.
Please join us on Monday night at 7:30pm in the Selectmen’s Room at Town Hall, and let the Board of Selectmen know that we do not want a budget referendum.
